Dr. Bharati Nikhare’s journey in medicine spans two continents. After earning her MD in India and establishing her first practice there, she moved to the United States and began the long path of professional recertification — starting from the ground up and completing a Family Medicine residency in New York.
When it came time to choose where to practice, the decision was immediate: she returned to Erie, Pennsylvania — the community that first welcomed her to the United States, and the place she now proudly calls home.
While building her patient panel in traditional corporate healthcare, Dr. Nikhare saw how insurance-driven constraints compromised the relationship between physician and patient. Refusing to let bureaucratic metrics set her standard of care, she founded NikhareMD Direct Primary Care, built on a simple philosophy: return medicine’s focus to what matters most — accessible, affordable, deeply personal community care.
